Teaching Focus
Since 2005, I have been the printmaking lead for the program at the TTU School of Art. During this time I have reconfigured the facilities, brought in new equipment and reorganized the curriculum, expanding upon a notable program with digital, cross-disciplinary and experimental classes.
Program Coordinator Responsibilities
Maintenance and Development of Printmaking Facility
Upon arrival, printmaking area had been in disrepair with neglected equipment, a lack of supplies and outdated printmaking health and safety. I procured and developed papermaking facility including Hollander Beater, papermaking vacuum table, molds and deckles, 20 ton shop press for papermaking, drying box, new shelving and storage area. Other refurbishments have been a critique wall built and viscosity rollers purchased.
Budgetary responsibilities
• Responsible for inventory, ordering, budget, inventory and of all supplies related to facilities.
Research of less toxic inks, solvents and other methods of non-toxic printmaking
Service
2015 T-Stem Workshop
Participated in a 4-day workshop working with MIT Scratch programming and the Makey Makey. The next week the intensive gaming camp brought in regional students for a 4-day overnight workshop
2016 MSU Graduate Certificate in Serious Games
During the development of virtual art galleries, I enrolled in a master’s certificate in Serious Game Design at Michigan State. During my studies, I have begun developing a health and safety game. There is a new health and safety initiative at TTU for all of the students required to pass a basic health and safety test working with chemicals in the studios. I have been developing this game to improve the potential art student’s knowledge of the hazards of the chemical usage of the different areas of the school of art. They will also understand the different required gear that is necessary to adequately protect themselves when creating art in a more engaging, stimulating fashion.
